A multi-part rail-like profile comprises at least two or more profile elements (1) that can be joined or inserted, having at least one detent (5) running in the longitudinal direction and a toothed rack partitioning or codings. Furthermore, sample elements (11) having evenly spaced elements (13), which are coupled to the detent or toothed rack partitioning, are provided in at least one wall of each profile element (1). For connecting the profile elements (1) that can be joined or inserted, a connecting element (21) having a further wall (23) is provided for abutting the wall of a profile element, having further sample elements (25) running in the longitudinal direction and being congruent to the sample elements (11), wherein the elements (27) thereof are spaced accordingly.
