The invention concerns a composite beam, which comprises a pair of edge rails 10 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the beam and are in the form of open hollow profiles, and a number of braces 20 which together form a beam web which is located between the edge rails 10 and whose ends are surrounded by the hollow profiles, and a method for producing such a composite beam. To permit economic production with the best possible use of the material making up the beam, the braces 20 are produced by dividing up an elongate metal profile which comprises, on the one hand, a web part 22 and, on the other hand, at least two flanges 21 situated at each end of the web part and projecting laterally from this web part, the ends of these flanges situated furthest away from the web part 22 having essentially the same cross-sectional shape as at least part of the inner circumference of the inside of the hollow profiles and being accommodated therein, in narrow strips which are essentially parallel to each other and form an acute angle with the longitudinal direction of the metal profile, after which one half of the brace flanges 21 is introduced into one hollow profile 10 and is connected to this, and the other half of the brace flanges is introduced into the second hollow profile and connected to it. <IMAGE> |
