NEW MATERIAL:A compound exhibiting the following properties. Composed of 35-45wt% DNA, 6-12wt% RNA, 15-17wt% sugar and <=2.5wt% amino acid. Molecular weight: 100,000-1,000,000 (expressed in terms of protein, by gel filtration method). Solubility: Readily soluble in water and insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ether, etc. Tone: Reddish pink in a neutral aqueous solution, royal purple in an alkali aqueous solution and precipitated in an acidic aqueous solution. Optical rotation: [alpha]<25>D=+76 deg. in 0.5% aqueous solution. Color reaction: Positive to ninhydrin reaction, etc., and negative to the Brix reaction, etc. Decomposition point: >235 deg.C. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:A microorganism, e.g. variant SN-07 strain (FERM P-7890) of Actinomadura roseoviolacea belonging to the genus Actinomadura is e.g., cultivated in a culture medium and resultant product is separated from the medium and purified by column chromatography, etc., to provide the aimed antibiotics. |
