The invention relates to an exhaust-purifying device for motor vehicles, with at least one ceramic element constructed in the shape of a honeycomb and arranged in a metallic outer housing with conical exhaust-feeding and -removing stubs at the ends, there being arranged between the outer housing and the ceramic element a thermally insulating spring mat which is covered in the region of the exhaust-feeding and -removing stubs as well as in each case between ceramic elements lying one behind the other by high-temperature-resistant shielding funnels or support rings, at least the shielding funnels being made of ceramic material and bearing with their front ends directly against the ceramic elements.
