PURPOSE:To obtain a disk-like magnetic recording medium having a high angular ratio approximately equivalent to a magnetic tape having a fixed degree of orientation in the circumferential direction and processed at its orientation in the longitudinal direction by previously executing the orientation processing in the vertical direction of an original plate and then executing circumferential orientation processing. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material is applied to the surface of a base film and an unhardened original plate 1 is applied to the surface of rollers 2, 3 so as to be moved at a fixed speed in an arrow 4 direction. A rotary drum 11 holding circumferentially directed magnets 51-56 is rotated around a rotary shaft 7 in an arrow 8 direction at a fixed peripheral speed synchronizing with the traveling direction of the original plate 1. A rotary drum 12 similarly holding circumferentially orientated magnets 61-66 opposed to the drum 11 so as to be symmetrically arranged about the original plate 1 is rotated around a rotary shaft 9 in an arrow 10 direction at the same peripheral speed as that of the drum 11. The original plate 1 is carried by the carrying drums 2, 3 and passed between vertically orientated magnets 13, 14 so as to be preparatorily orientated in the vertical direction. The original plate 1 passed between the drums 11, 12 is circumferentially orientated by the magnets 5, 6 opposed to the original plate 1.
