The invention relates to a method for preparing tetrafluorophthalic acid,said method comprising steps consisting of (a) reacting an alkaline metalfluoride and at least one imide compound complying with formula (I) or (II):wherein X1, X2, X3 and X4, which may be identical or different, eachrepresent a chlorine atom or a bromine atom, R1 represents a monovalentorganic group and R2 a bivalent organic group, to obtain an N-substitutedtetrafluorophthalimide and (b) hydrolysing the tetrafluorophthalimide in thepresence of an acid.<IMAGE> |
