In the case of a piece of upholstered seating furniture, a variable and/or interchangeable supporting cushion can be attached, in a concealed position, to the lower region of the backrest part adjoining the seat part, in order to make possible an individually adaptable back support, in particular in the lumbar region. The supporting cushion preferably consists of an inflatable air-chamber cushion. A heating cushion may also be arranged in front of the air-chamber cushion. Both parts can be inserted in a pocket of the upholstery in the lower backrest part, so that they are always concealed.
