PURPOSE:To provide a well-balanced heat mode optical recording medium high in reflectance of a coated film, improved in deterioration upon reproduction and excellent in preservability, by producing the medium by using a coloring matter composition containing a specified compound, a quencher and an optional resin. CONSTITUTION:A coloring matter film layer containing a compound of formula [I] or [II], a quencher and, optionally, a resin. In the formulas, each of R1-R4 is independently H, a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxyl or the like, each of Y1 and Y2 is independently H, hydroxyl, a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, alkoxyl or halogen, X-is a halogen ion or acid anion, and L1=L2 is a linking group for forming the coloring matter. |
