PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel pellet which does not cause lowering in combustion efficiency due to aging nor environmental pollution, by controlling the water content of saw dust or chipped bark to a specified level, impregnating it with gas oil having a sulfur content of a specified value or below and compression molding it with heating. CONSTITUTION:The water content of an org. fibrous material such as sawdust or chipped bark is controlled to 8-12wt%. The fibrous material is then impregnated with 0.5-4wt% mineral hydrocarbon having a sulfur content of 0.3wt% or below, i.e., gas oil, and compression-molded at 150-190 deg.C into the desired shape to prepare a fuel pellet. An oily film is formed on the surface of the pellet and hence the waterproofness is improved so that the deterioration of fuel with time can be prevented and environmental pollution caused by sulfur- contg. compds. can be removed.
