<p>NEW MATERIAL:Compds. of formula I [wherein X is a naphgthalene ring having 0-2 groups selected from the group consisting of OH, SO3M, COOM and NHY (wherein M is a base selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, ammonium and amines; and Y is acetyl, p-toluene sulfonyl, toluyl, phenylsulfonyl or benzoyl). EXAMPLE:Compd. of formula II. USE:Azo dyes which are magenta to red and useful as dyes for ink for ink jet recording. PREPARATION:Hexamethylenediamine is reacted with p-acetami dobenzenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of tetrahydrofuran and water at a pH of 9-11. The resulting compd. of formula III is heated under reflux in the presence of hydrochloric acid and water to obtain a compd. of formula IV. A mixture of the compd. of formula IV, hydrochloric acid, water and NaNO2 is mixed with 1-acetamido-8-naphthol-3,6-di-sulfonate in an aq. NaOH soln.</p> |
