<p>PURPOSE:To attain proper grasp of check period by providing a comparison decision circuit detecting a faulty current in a voice coil motor from the comparison with a current stored in a voice coil motor current storage circuit and giving an output to a control circuit. CONSTITUTION:Just after positioning of a positioner 6, a voice coil motor current detection circuit 4 detects a current of a voice coil motor 7, and a comparison decision circuit 2 decides the presence of a fault of the current of the voice coil motor 7 depending on said current and an output signal of a voice coil motor current storage circuit 5 storing a current before the positioner 6 is positioned and the result is fed to a control circuit 1. If the positioner hold current is changed by a specified value or over before and after the positioner positioning, it is detected by a comparison decision circuit 2, its signal is fed to the control circuit 1, which receives it to inform a fault externally. Thus, mechanical wear of the positioner or the like is detected earlier, the check period of the magnetic disk device is grasped properly to improve the efficiency of maintenance.</p> |
