Provided are a device and a method for variable overpower trip of a reactor protection system. According to the present invention, the device for variable overpower trip of the reactor protection system comprises: an obtaining unit for receiving a processing value from a reactor according to a period and obtaining a plurality of processing values; and a determining unit for controlling a setting value for interrupting the reactor according to variation ratio which a pair of processing values have, when the pair of processing values inputted in the last two periods among the plurality of processing values are different within a ratio limit.
