PURPOSE:To obtain an alkaline zinc storage battery which retains good perforamnce for a long time by preventing the uneven distribution of an additive such as indium oxide in a zinc electrode to uniformly distribute it in the zinc electrode. CONSTITUTION:In an alkaline zinc storage battery having a zinc electrode 1 using zinc and/or zinc oxide as active material, indium oxide, indium hydroxide, or metallic indium is contained in the zinc electrode. By covering the surface of an additive such as indium oxide with silicon dioxide, silano group (Si-OH) produced on the surface of the silicon dioxide by ionization forms hydrogen bond with water in active materail paste during kneading. Thereby, the additive is smoothly distributed in the active material paste. As a result, the coagulation of the additive is eliminated and its uneven distribution is prevented. |
