PURPOSE:To provide a rolling mill oil containing a reaction product of a specific castor oil derivative with a dicarboxylic acid as a main component, having excellent lubrication performance, and applicable even to a severe rolling operation. CONSTITUTION:The objective rolling mill oil is composed mainly of (A) a castor oil derivative obtained by the esterification reaction of (i) the carboxyl group of a dicarboxylic acid monoester derived from a hydroxy compound having >=11C alkyl or alkenyl group and a dicarboxylic acid with (ii) a part of the hydroxyl groups of (hydrogenated) castor oil and/or (B) a castor oil derivative obtained by the esterification reaction of (i) the carboxyl group of a dicarboxylic acid monoester derived from a hydroxy compound having >=11C alkyl or alkenyl group and a dicarboxylic acid with (ii) a part of the hydroxyl group of (hydrogenated) castor oil added with an alkylene oxide, with (C) a dicarboxylic acid. |
