A method is disclosed for producing cross-linked or non-cross-linkedpolyethylene foams, having enhanced mechanical properties and small cells.The method consists in extruding at a temperature below 135 degrees C amixture comprising a low-density linear polyethylene, 0.1 to 10 parts of apolyether for 100 parts of polyethylene and heat-sensitive additives, forform a sheet of homogeneous composition, and unrolling said sheet in afurnace at a high temperature to enable the expansion and cross-linking ofthe polyethylene. |
