The present invention relates to an engraving machine of the reproduction type. The machine according to the invention comprises a chassis 1, a means 2 for clamping the component or components 3 to be engraved, at least one template-holder 4 supporting the character or characters 5 to be reproduced and a deformable reproduction means 6 provided with at least one copying head 7, and with at least one engraving head 8, and is essentially characterised in that the chassis 1 over its whole height has an opening 18 passing right through it defining two integral vertical flanges 1A and 1B and in that the flanges 1A and 1B each carry a jaw 9 or 10 of the clamping means 2, facing one another in a parallel fashion. <IMAGE>
