The subject-matter of the main application P 3500660.9-22 is an apparatus for bringing together, along a guide rail which is attached on one side, bottles or the like arriving slowly in a wide flow of bottles on one or more multi-track, endlessly circulating conveyor belts or the like into a fast-running, pressure-free, closed row of bottles. In order, subsequent to the main application, further to improve the function of the apparatus and further to reduce the necessary expenditure, it is proposed according to the invention that the plate chain (26) or the like adjacent to the first disc (24) be wrapped around the latter over at least half of its periphery and be then led around the second disc (25), the drive of the two discs (24, 25) taking place by means of this plate chain (26) wrapped around the discs over the larger parts of their peripheries. The outer guide rail (32), as seen in the conveying direction, which extends over the plate chains (22) of the installation for bringing together the bottles, is of an arcuate design and merges tangentially with the guide rail (34) on the outside of the plate chain (26) in the drawing-in region of the first disc (24). <IMAGE>
