PROCESS FOR PREPARING MEDICINAL MUD WITH EFFECT CHARACTERISTIC OF MEDICINAL WATER

In the prepn. of the medicinal mud (pack), peat is continuously comminuted in the presence of medicinal water. Drilling is carried out in a colloid mill for a predetermined time; e.g. in case of peat with 50% moisture content, at a ratio of peat:medicinal water 1:0.75-1, the milling period is 0.4-1.4 hrs. - Solid fraction over 63 micrometres is retained on a vibratory screen for removal after washing with medicinal water. The washing process increases the moisture content of the peat to 80-85%. The mud is concentrated for storage in the presence of a flocculating agent, and the clarified supernatant is removed by vacuum filtration. This lowers the moisture content to 35 vol.%. The mud is reconstituted by adding medicinal water before use.
