Belt conveyor in which the conveyor belt is deflected, at least at the transfer end, via a stationary deflecting edge having a small radius. The stationary deflecting edge is provided with a fluid cooling system. A pipe, which is provided with connections for a liquid coolant, can be provided as the stationary deflecting edge. In the case of a belt conveyor having a delivery end which is at an angle of less than 90 DEG to the running direction of the conveyor belt and having two stationary deflecting edges situated one above the other and a compensating roller at an angle to the latter, around which the conveyor belt is looped, both stationary deflecting edges are designed as tubes with connections, on both sides, for a liquid coolant. <IMAGE>
