PURPOSE:To enable elimination of the necessity for an operator to reset a printing position movement amount each time a job is selected anew by accessing a memory which stores an initialized printing position movement amount according to form information transmitted by a host unit and correcting a start timing of reading description data based on a read printing position movement amount. CONSTITUTION:A printing position movement amount entered from an input panel 11 which initializes the printing position movement amount of a preprinting paper in a main and a subscan direction in the form of a linkage between said amount and form information, is converted to digital data by a code converter 12, and stored into a non-volatile memory 13. The form information is identified by a console such as of a host computer and then is transmitted to a printer 10. The printer 10 in turn reads a printing position movement amount from a non-volatile memory 13 according to the form information. After this, the start timing of reading description data in a main and a subscan direction is controlled on the basis of the read printing position movement amount. |
