A rack (1) serves to store bars (2), in particular rolled steel sections, tubes, solid material or the like. It has a rack frame (3) with compartments (4) which are arranged one above the other and are each subdivided one next to the other into individual drawer-like trays (6) which can be pulled out in the longitudinal direction of the bars (2) to be stored and are mounted on rollers (5). The rack (1) furthermore includes at least one additional, preferably mobile supporting framework (7) which supports the respective tray to be extended during the extension and above all in the extended position, and for this purpose can be detachably coupled to the tray (6) in each case. The coupling point (8) for the supporting framework (7) is in this case set back on the respective tray (6) with respect to the front face (9) of the latter in the pull-out direction and is thus arranged inside the rack frame (3) when the tray (6) is retracted into the rest position. In the coupling position, the respective tray (6) therefore has a projecting length (12) with respect to the supporting framework (7), with the result that a better weight counterbalance at the supporting framework results and the free span of the extended tray (6) is reduced, so that low bending stresses occur and the trays (6) can therefore be designed in a lighter and more space-saving manner. <IMAGE>
