A description is given of a method for producing a heat exchanger, in which before being joined to one another, in particular before being soldered, a plurality of flat tubes are aligned with their lateral surfaces parallel to one another and, with the aid of intermediate tube sockets or by means of expanded end parts, at a spacing from one another. In this case, connecting openings at the tube ends are aligned with one another by providing a mounting strip which passes through all the connecting openings and, if necessary, intermediate tube sockets and bears at at least two points against each of the openings to be aligned, and by successively pushing all the juxtaposed parts onto this mounting strip and then interconnecting them. The mounting strip thereby serves, on the one hand, to simplify the mounting process, while on the other hand owing to its special construction, which in particular can be undertaken in the form of a Z-shaped profiled sheet-metal strip, centring of the parts which are to be positioned against one another is achieved. The mounting strip remains in the heat exchanger after the soldering operation and also serves there for the purpose of uniformly distributing over the individual flat tubes the heat exchange medium flowing through.
