Rotary engine with desmodromic valve gear

In an internal combustion engine with drum (2) pivotably supported in an inner chamber of a housing (4) defined by a housing inner wall (12), which drum is connected to an output shaft, an ignition system (10) intrudes into the housing inner chamber. In addition, an outlet (5) for exhaust gases and an inlet (6) for fuel are provided. When the drum (2) rotates in one direction of rotation, the drum (2), the housing inner wall (12) and desmodromic vanes (3), supported so that they are radially movable in the drum, form chambers (9) of variable volume. In so doing, the desmodromic vanes (3) on the one hand brush the housing inner wall (12), whilst on the other they run off from a curved plate (8). For catching centrifugal forces as the drum turns with the desmodromic vanes, it is proposed that the curved plate (8) form a guide (27, 27a, 46) for restricted guidance of the desmodromic vanes (3) in the radial direction. <IMAGE>
