Sliding or frictional element, and process for its manufacture

In a sliding or frictional element, in whose sliding or frictional layer fine particles of sintered material are incorporated for dispersion-hardening, fine particles of sintered material are provided which are formed from hard, intermetallic compounds and/or hard, metallic solid solutions. The fine particles of sintered material can be distributed substantially uniformly in the sliding or frictional layer. A selective distribution, for example in predetermined regions of the surface of the sliding layer or frictional layer, is, however, also conceivable. Finally, it is also conceivable that the fine particles of sintered material are arranged substantially in the surface region of the sliding layer or frictional layer. For producing such sliding or frictional elements, a powder of hard, intermetallic compounds and/or hard metallic solid solutions must be formed and be incorporated into the sliding or frictional layer during the formation thereof or, after the formation of the sliding or frictional layer, be sprinkled onto the surface thereof and preferably pressed into the latter.
