PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of transporting pulverized substance by installing plane- shaped members within a plane-shaped dielectric or at its surface in such a way as facing each other, wherein each plane-shaped member is equipped with a plurality of electrodes, impressing alternately the voltages of different phases of a multi-phase AC voltage, thereby collapsing cohered secondary particles of the pulverized substance, and by dispersing upon making it into primary particles. CONSTITUTION:An electric field curtain of meandering advance wave type in the A direction as shown by arrow is formed in a gap between two plane-shaped member 1, 2 by means of voltage impression with a multi-phase power supply 4. From the upstream in the advance direction A, toner of the pulverized substance transported is continuously supplied at intervals with appropriate quantities by the use of a toner supply device 30. The substance is in the A direction transported while repeating meandering and collision between the mating surfaces of said plane-shaped members 1, 2, when the included secondary particles are made actively into primary particles, and finally the toner crowd condition is obtained, which consists substantially only of primary particles. Discharge is made continuously into a gap 9 between a latent image bearer 5 and a mating electrode 7, and the latent image in the bearer 5 is developed T stably in good performance. This enhances the transport efficiency greatly to enable accomplishment of the intended object. |
