The invention relates to a position sensor. The sensor comprises three pairs, each consisting of a straight photoelectric detector and an associated straight slit. Each slit F and the associated detector B are in parallel planes, but the direction of the slit is orthogonal to that of the detector. The light sources are associated with the slits. The light L reflected by the object reaches the slit associated with the light source and forms on the associated detector a diffraction spot.
