The invention relates to a device allowing the sealing of a standard cartridge inside which is wound a magnetic tape for a computer. The device consists of two mutually complementary pieces represented respectively in figures 2 and 3. The piece represented in figure 2 is inserted into the orifice of the casing of the cartridge (label 2 in figure 1) then the insertion of the lower part of the piece represented in figure 3 into the slot 3 of figure 2 renders the two pieces integral. These two pieces physically lock the starter catch (label 1 in figure 1) and consequently prevent the use of the cartridge in a dedicated unit. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for affording protection so as to preclude illicit duplication of information recorded on magnetic tape cartridges for a computer, unbeknown to the owner of the data. <IMAGE>
