The invention is based on a pneumatic vehicle tyre with a tensile strain-resistant belt between the radial carcass and the tread and in addition on such tyres which have a tensile strain-resistant band in the tread zone whose width is approximately 10 to 25% of the width of the belt. In order to be able to maintain the influence of narrow circumferential bands during so-called run-flat mode, on the basis of the invention the circumferential band is arranged on the side of the carcass facing the cavity of the tyre. Accordingly, the circumferential bands are neither wrapped around the belt nor around the zenith areas of the carcass. During normal operation of the tyre the circumferential bands are isolated, that is to say neutralised, whilst the stiffening effect of the circumferential bands is retained to a sufficient degree.
