NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance SF-2457 having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, colorless amorphous powder; melting point, 172-174 deg.C (decomposition); [alpha]<22>D=+99.2 deg. (C=1.0, MeOH); elemental analysis (%), C 54.59, H 6.20, N 14.02; molecular weight, 590 (mass analysis;) molecular formula, C27H38N6O9; nature, basic; reaction, positive to ninhydrin reagent and 10% sulfuric acid reagent and negative to FeCl3; solubility, easily soluble in water, methanol and ethanol, insoluble in ethyl acetate, benzene and chloroform; etc. USE:Antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:A bacterial strain belonging to Nocardia genus such as Nocardia sp. SF-2457 (FERM P-8701) is cultured preferably at 25-28 deg.C for 2-10 days. |
