It is characterised in that instead of sending the strips 8 to the washing station 10 after having connected them together using the weft threads by weaving 1 so that they form a single web which, during washing, would prevent them from getting tangled up, each strip is produced entirely independently of any other strip at the weaving station 1, so as to have two selvedges 13, 14, and it is after weaving 1 that the strips 8 are sent to a station 15 for grouping them together in batches 16 of a certain number of strips 8, for which reason they are placed into an envelope which is permeable to the washing and rinsing product and from which they are only removed at a station 17 located after the washing station 10.
