PURPOSE:To increase corrosion resistance of metal bulk of a cathode by using a foamed metal comprising nickel-chromium alloy in a cathode united with a current collector. CONSTITUTION:A nickel-chromium alloy is used in a foamed metal serving as a cathode in which oxidizing gas can freely diffuse through open pores of porous electrode substrate and a current collector is practically unnecessary. By utilizing strong oxide film of chromium, the foamed metal comprising nickel- chromium alloy is used in the cathode to increase corrosion resistance. Although the surface of the foamed metal comprising nickel-chromium alloy is oxidized and doped with lithium, the bulk keeps metallic state, and the skeleton can retain shape and strength. Thereby, the electrode united with current collector can be made thin, the construction is made simple, and the cell performance is stabilized for a long time. |
