PURPOSE:To convert triallylamine having low industrial use value into mono- - diallylamine having high industrial use value extremely efficiently, by reacting triallylamine with ammonia in the presence of a platinum compound and a trivalent phosphorus compound. CONSTITUTION:(C) Triallylamine is reacted with (D) ammonia in a molar ratio of the component D/C of 1/100-100, especially 1/10-10 at 0-200 deg.C, especially 30-150 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst obtained by combining (A) a platinum compound with (B) a trivalent phosphorus compound to give mono- - diallylamine widely useful as a raw material for a cationic polymer useful as flocculant, etc., drugs and agricultural chemicals from triallylamine efficiently. The catalyst is preferably used in a molar ratio of the component (A+B)/C=1/10-1/100,000, especially 1/50-1/20,000 and in a molar ratio of the component B/A(Pt)=1-100, especially 1-20. |
