A method is described for manufacturing moldable, lightweight, self-supporting and soundproofing articles, in particular panels for the interior of motor vehicles, comprising a first step wherein a semi-worked article is manufactured, consisting of a mat of glass fibers impregnated with thermoactivatable polyurethane resin which, after drying, is rolled and stored, and a second and subsequent step wherein a soundproofing spacer material is superimposed on at least one mat of glass fibers resulting from the first step or is interposed between two of said mats, the obtained structure is cut into pieces, and a piece is loaded into a forming mold, after the possible application of at least one aesthetical surface covering. The mold is heated and controlled by thermostats to produce the activation of the resin which, reacting irreversibly, assumes the necessary characteristics of rigidity and resistance to temperature and humidity.
|
