A system is described for controlling an electromagnetic clutch for a motor vehicle at starting of the motor vehicle. Means (44, 45) determines when the clutch slips and engine speed does not change, and produces a stall signal representing a stall condition. A means (47) provides a reference clutch current in accordance with opening degree of a throttle valve of the engine at the stall condition. The actual clutch current at the stall condition is compared by a comparator means (48) with the reference clutch current, and a current correction setting section (49), controls a clutch current correcting section (42) to correct the clutch change to take account of the disparity between the theoretical and actual engine and clutch operating conditions.
|
