PURPOSE:To certainly prevent oil leak and slip-off of a housing due to the slackening of fitting force by forming a reinforcing ring fitted onto the housing through the drawing molding of a thin aluminum alloy plate, in the oil seal for a car engine. CONSTITUTION:As for an oil seal which is fitted onto an engine housing 3 and seals the part between a crankshaft, a reinforcing ring 1 is formed into annular form having a nearly L-shaped section through the drawing molding of a thin aluminum alloy plate made of the material in the same group to the housing 3, and a sealing lip 2 made of the heat-resisting rubber such as fluorinated rubber, etc. is formed onto the inner peripheral edge part of the annular flange part 1a. Because of the working hardening by the drawing molding, the resisting force having a high elastic limit value is held on the outer peripheral part 1b of the reinforcing ring 1, and the resisting force is improved further by applying the alumite treatment. Therefore, the fitting portion at high temperature for the housing having a large thermal expansion coefficient can be sufficiently maintained, and the oil leak and the slip-off from the housing due to the slackening can be prevented certainly. |
