PURPOSE:To make clearly visible recording by providing a detecting device that detects color of recording paper and changing the color of ink according to the color of recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 4 and a detecting device 11 that detects color of recording paper are provided on the carriage 3 which is parallel to a platen 1. Ink jet nozzles 5-7 for cyan, magenta and yellow are arranged on the recording head 4, and the quantity of discharge of ink is made controllable. A deciding circuit 16 that projects light from a light source 12 on the recording paper 2, receives reflected light on a photodetecting section 15 through a color separating filter 14, and decides each color of cyan, magenta and yellow is provided in the detecting device 11. The quantities of discharge of ink jet nozzles 5-7 are controlled by the output of the deciding circuit. Thus, clearly visible recording can be made for color of recording paper. |
