A process for preparing interleukin-2 having no methionine residue in the N-terminus by culturing E. coli having an inducing vector carrying interleukin-2 gene in the lower stream region of translation-initiating codon, ATG, which process comprises culturing the E. coli strain in a medium containing an iron ion source and/or a maganese ion source. This process makes it possible to prepare in a higher yield interleukin-2 having no methionine residue in the N-terminus such as interleukin-2 having the same amino acid sequence as that of natural human interleukin-2. |
