OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE TYPE CONNECTION MEMBER FOR CONNECTING BUNCH FIBER AND CONNECTOR USING SAME

PURPOSE:To simply connect respective cores of bunch fibers to normal single- core optical fibers by using optical waveguides formed on a substrate based on chemical gas phase reaction or the like as a connection member. CONSTITUTION:The end part of the bunch fiber 31 is fitted to a connector member 100, the connection member 34 provided with two waveguides 33 formed on the substrate 32 are connected to the end part of the fiber 31 and the end faces of respective cores of the fiber 31 are fused and spliced to the waveguides 33 by a CO2 laser. The end part of the fiber 31 and the connection member 34 are fixed in a 1st housing 101 for storing and holding these members 31, 34 and the end faces 35 of the waveguides 33 are exposed from holes perforated coincident with the sectional shape of the connection member on the end face of the housing 101.
