PURPOSE:To form an electrocast article free of impurities contg. S by providing a transparent insoluble anode furnished with an UV lamp on the opposite side with respect to an electrocasting mother die as the anode in the title device for electrocasting Ni and other metals. CONSTITUTION:The electrocasting mother die 3 consisting of a glass master disk coated with a photoresist provided with an Ag film as the cathode is dipped in an electrocasting soln. 2 contg. any of the cations of Ni, Co, In, Fe, Cu, etc., and contg. a sulfamate ion. An insoluble electrode 4 having a high oxygen overvoltage and obtained by coating a ransparent SnO2 film 7 on the surface of a quartz glass substrate 6 is used as the anode, and the UV lamp 5 is provided on the opposite side of the SnO2 film 7 functioning as the anode opposite to the mother die 3 functioning as the cathode. Electrocasting is carried out while passing an electric current at 10A/dm<2> current density through the electrocasting soln. 2 at 40-40 deg.C and 4.2 pH and radiating UV rays having <=300mm avelength from the lamp 5, and an electrocast material 8 having an extremely low content of impurities consisting of an S-contg. compd. such as azodisulfonic acid is formed on the mother die cathode 3.
