PURPOSE:To inspect the pressure proof of high pressure piping simultaneously with the assembling and adjusting operation of high pressure turbine casing by sealing an annular space which includes a weld line and contacts the high pressure casing and the pipe to be inspected by packing. CONSTITUTION:A high pressure lower half casing 1 is set and then a main steam pipe 4 and further a steam control valve are set; while respective pipes 4 are welded temporarily simultaneously with the assembly of a high pressure upper half casing 2, a specific heat treatment is carried out to weld respective parts. Then, annular packings 18 and 18' which are sectioned in a C shape are brought into the casing 1 and pipe 4 to seal the annular space W contacting the weld line W, and further packing pressers 19 and 19' are used to back up the packings 18 and 18'. In this state, pressure liquid is injected into the space sealed by the annular packings and pressurized to detect whether or not there is the defect of the weld zone W.
