PURPOSE:To add an automatic convergence function to the titled device by providing a photoelectric conversion part arrayed two dimensionally, a horizontal transfer part, and first and second shift register parts. CONSTITUTION:At a point of time t1, a pulse (a) is outputted from the second shift register 11, and pulses (c) and (d) are supplied to the electrode 3 of the horizontal transfer part(H-CCD) 2. By the level 'H' of a pulse C, signal charges are read out from a photodiode 1. The charges are transferred by pulses (c) and (d) at a time t2 but not outputted. After the lapse of storing time t5, a pulse (b) is outputted from the first shift register 10 at a time t3, while pulses (c) and (d) are applied to the electrode of the H-CCD. By the level 'M' of a pulse (c), signal charges are read out from the photodiode 1 and transfferred and outptted at a time t4. By varying the length of time t5, the storing time for signal charges can be varied, therefore, it is made possible to let an element itself have the convergence function.
