<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a detecting means by providing a sheet storage device with a sensor for detecting optically the upper surface of a sheet on a tray, a shading member capable of making an ingress along the optical axis of a sensor for detecting the upper surface level of a sheet and a tray control means. CONSTITUTION:A sheet discharged from an image formation device is accumulated and stored on a tray 211, with the image formed surface thereof directed upward or reversed downward. And when the upper surface of the sheet stacked and stored on the tray 211 has been detected by a sensor 218 for detecting the upper surface of the sheet, a control means operates to lower the tray 211. On the other hand, when the tray 211 has moved upward as in the case of removing the sheet therefrom, a shading member 211C in the tray 211 is detected by the sensor 218 at an upper limit position. Therefore, the upward motion of the tray 211 is stopped and the tray 211 continues to fall until the shading member 211C is not detected by the sensor 218, thereby making preparations for accumulating and storing the sheet.</p> |
