PURPOSE:To make it possible to precisely detect an abnormal condition of a tire, by comparing a reflecting ultrasonic wave from an ultrasonic wave sensor for receiving an ultrasonic wave produced by the tire, with a normal value, and by judging whether the tire is abnormal or not in accordance with the difference between the reflecting ultrasonic wave and the normal value. CONSTITUTION:A ring-like steel cord 4 is disposed in each tire 3 for a monorail vehicle running along a trackway 8, while ultrasonic wave sensors 5 are embedded in the trackway 8. The ultrasonic wave sensors 5 are connected to a control device 7 through signal cables 6. The control device 7 is composed of an ultrasonic wave signal generator 13, and a multiprexer which transmits an ultrasonic signal to the several ultrasonic wave sensors 5 arranged along the trackway 8 while scans the sensors 5 and which receives successively reflected waves from the sensors 5, a central processing unit 16 for comparing a set value corresponding to a reflecting signal from a normally operated tire with the detection signals to judge whether a tire is normal or not, and the like. When an abnormal tire is detected, the matter is informed to a drive cabin on the vehicle.
