PURPOSE:To discriminate a character data part and an image data part with a simple constitution by providing a character end mark between the character data part of input form and an image data part and detecting the character end mark with a character segmenting part. CONSTITUTION:The input form 1 has a character data part and the image data part and the character end mark is provided between both data parts. The mark detecting part 5 of a character image reading part 2 detects a timing mark provided respectively corresponding to the character data part of the input form 1 and the image data part, and the character end mark provided at the border position of the character data part and the image data part. The character data part and the image data part recognized by a recognizing part 7 are inputted through a data output part 8 to a word processor part 9.
