PURPOSE:To detect the presence of a liquid accurately with a relatively simple construction, by checking the swelling of an expansible diaphragm caused by the infiltration of the liquid. CONSTITUTION:A liquid sensor 5 detects water 4a leaked at a joint part 3. The water 4a drops on a wall section 8 and passes through to reach an absorbing body 11. The absorbing body 11 expands in the volume with the absorption of the water 4a. This causes an expansible diaphragm 10 to swell so much as to allow the extrusion of an actuator 15 of a microswitch 14. A signal is led out from the switch 14.
