The toothpick comprises an elongated plastic shaft 1 and a brush part 2 of a plastic fabric or web material, connected to the shaft and forming bristles 3 projecting from the shaft transversely therefrom. A method for manufacturing the toothpick consists in preparing an injection mould suitable for injection moulding or similar forming of an elongated plastic shaft, inserting a plastic fabric or plastic web strip with a width greater than the width of the mould chamber between the halves of the mould, closing the mould, and injecting plastic into the mould to form the shaft, which is heat-bonded to the strip. <IMAGE>
