PURPOSE:To smoothly take out and carry out positioning as it is by horizontally housing a workpiece in a magazine, supporting from the lower part by means of a released chuck and horizontally drawing out and, then, chucking said workpiece, at the time of transferring a magnetic disk, etc. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic disks 2 are horizontally housed in a magazine 1 and a lifting member 3 is lowered. And, the mount part 11 and the movable engaging part 12 of a chuck member 5 which is held in a chuck releasing position with the movable engaging part 12 being brought close to a recessed part 19, are fitted into the lowest stage magazine 1. When this fitting is detected by an unshown sensor, the lifting member 3 is stopped, the chuck member 5 is horizontally moved by means of a cylinder 7, and a disk 2 is taken out of the magazine 1. When the disk 2 arrives at a loader, the disk 2 is positioned with the movable engaging part 12 as the chucking position. Then, the disk 2 is adsorbed by an adsorbing member 8. By this structure, the disk can be smoothly taken out and positioned as it is.
