<p>A plastic pilfer-proof (34) that comprises a ring (35, 35a), a plurality of inwardly directed hooks (36a-36d, 136a-136d) joined to one edge of the ring by hinge portions (38a-38d, 138a-138d), and a weakened region (39, 50a-50h, 59a-59d, 65) is integrally molded with a main closure portion (30, 30a, 30b) comprising a closed end (31) and a skirt (32) extending from the closed end (31) and having an edge to which the pilfer-proof (34) is attached during the molding. The hooks (36a-36d, 136a-136d) define sectors of a generally frusto-conical shell and extend inwardly and upwardly toward the closed end (31) from the remote end of the ring (35, 35a). The hooks (36a-36d, 136a-136d) are released from the mold (68, 69, 70) by rotating a mold portion (69) that forms the respective hidden surfaces (76a) of the hooks (36a-36d, 136a-136d) and by pivoting the hooks (36a-36d, 136a-136d) radially outwardly toward the respective parts of the inner surface (52) of the ring with respect to which the hidden surfaces (76a) are juxtaposed.</p> |
