PURPOSE:To reduce thrust irregularity of movable coils, by a method wherein ratio of length of a magnet along traveling direction to length of a movable coil of the same polarity is set to a fractional multiple. CONSTITUTION:Side cores 8a, 8b are installed to rear side of magnets 4, 5 comprising a plurality of magnet pieces respectively, and these magnets 4, 5 are spaced by a prescribed distance and installed in opposition. Movable coils 6(0)-6(n) have a center core 9. Ratio of length of the magnets 4, 5 along traveling direction to produce magnetic field in one same direction to length of the movable coils 6(0)-6(n) of the same polarity is set to fructional multiple, and the polarity of the movable coils 6(0)-6(n) is changed to obtain thrust of the same direction.
