Quick release coupling and valve combination - uses opening in valve knob to retain coupling when valve is closed

To form a connection between e.g. a gas supply and a portable piece of equipment such as a camping stove, a quick release coupling with a connection (18) for the supply tube can be combined with a shut-off valve (7). Under the operating knob (6) of the valve is a boss (2) with an opening (3) into which is inserted part of the fittings forming the coupling. This can only be inserted and removed when the valve is shut. The closed positon of the valve is indicated by the shape of the knob, and can also be indicated by markings on the knob. ADVANTAGE - Provides a safety system preventing escape of gas.
